About Lizzie/Colleen
Colleen has been introducing people to the art of quilting for 30 years, Initially she enjoyed making baby quilts and gift quilts for family members which were made with fabrics left over from clothing construction projects. Ruffles, ribbon dresses and western shirts can be spotted in her early quilts.
Laughter and enjoying life full of friends and unique experiences provide a foundation attitude toward starting new quilts with an open mind to the final outcome. Each design is meant to take on it's own personality at the hands of the quilter.
The need to use color to help define patterns became the driving force in an expanded quilting experience. A unique sense of fabric and color combinations have made her quilts memorable. In a busy life, the advent of rotary cutting and easy piecing techniques allowed construction of quilts for classes, patterns and family gifts. Basic construction tips and a sense of humor combine for classes and patterns that are enjoyable for students of all experience levels.
Colleen has taught at numerous quilt shops and guilds in Oregon and Washington as well as at the Sisters Quilters Affair. She has been instrumental in organizing a quilt show for her home town of Pendleton, Oregon that is entering its 8th year of existence.
Living in small communities in Oregon and Washington, her love of the outdoors and lifelong interest in horses provide inspiration and creative insight that continue to fuel her quilting and design work. The color and force of the natural world are often the driving forces behind choices reflected in her work.
